As a member-owned cooperative, Middle Georgia EMC allocates operating margins to members in the form of capital credits based on the amount of electricity they purchase each year. Middle Georgia EMC continuously evaluates its financial position with the intent to return capital to the members when the cooperative's financial condition permits.
Following approval by Middle Georgia EMC's Board of Directors, the cooperative issued its first general retirement of capital credits on June 1, 2026. This action returns $125,000 to members from 1973 and prior and $125,000 to members from 2025, totaling $250,000.
Active, eligible members will be issued a credit on their June 2026 electric bill. Former members who no longer have an active account with Middle Georgia EMC will be issued a check by mail.
